The Luton Ukimaniacs - Luton, Bedfordshire

We are the Luton Ukimaniacs – a fun, friendly ukulele group based in Luton, open to all levels of experience, from complete beginners to seasoned strummers.
When and Where We Meet
We meet regularly each month:
The first two Wednesdays at the High Town Club at 7:00pm
(Free parking is available in the club’s car park or nearby streets)
The last two Tuesdays at the Bricklayers Arms, High Town Road at 7:15pm
(Free on-street parking is available nearby)
There’s no charge to attend – just bring your ukulele and join in!
A Little History
The group was formed in 2017 by Dave Mingay (wannabe hipster) and Elizabeth Henry (our crazy Canadian cat lady), who wanted Luton to have its own ukulele community.
Our first meeting had just three people. We started playing regularly at the High Town Club’s Open Mic nights, which helped us grow, drawing in both experienced players and complete beginners.
Where We’ve Played
Over the years, we've performed at:
The High Town Festival (2017 & 2018)
Luton Live
Gavin Shuker’s Summer School
Various church and community events
And we’ve been featured several times on BBC Three Counties Radio
New to the Ukulele?
Don’t worry if you’ve never played before. Drop us a line in advance and we’ll bring along a spare ukulele for you to try out. You don’t need to read music, and you definitely don’t need to be "musical" to enjoy yourself.
Come When You Can
Some members come every week, others whenever they can. There’s no pressure or commitment – just come along and play.
You might also see a kazoo or two, a U-bass (bass ukulele), a Cajon (sit-on drum), and other fun percussion. We’re a flexible bunch!
A Note on Age
There’s no upper age limit – everyone is welcome. However, we do ask that children are accompanied by an adult, as this is an adult group.
